ScienceSoft’s Human-Like, Real-Time AI Scheduler Named Semifinalist in Amazon Nova

ScienceSoft was named one of the semifinalists in the Amazon Nova Partner Demo Competition, a GenAI challenge launched by AWS for its technology partners. Out of more than 120 submissions, only 22 were selected, including global IT leaders like IBM, Accenture, and Deloitte. ScienceSoft earned this recognition for its HIPAA-compliant healthcare AI Voice Scheduler, which fully automates patient scheduling through real-time, human-like voice interactions.

The scheduling agent features a first-of-its-kind integration of Amazon’s Nova Sonic speech-to-speech model with the LiveKit Media Server. Using bidirectional streaming through a single API, the assistant responds with no perceptible delay, offering patients a highly natural experience. The solution handles both incoming and outgoing calls, verifies patient identity, and integrates with EHR systems using function calls and FHIR APIs to dynamically manage appointments during the call.

Patient scheduling is one of the most promising entry points for GenAI in healthcare, a mission-critical, yet non-clinical domain where innovation can safely deliver immediate value. ScienceSoft estimates that the AI scheduling agent can potentially reduce appointment booking time by 40%, cut call abandonment rates by 30%, and lower operational costs by at least 50%. As it can handle multiple calls simultaneously, it is expected to process 70% more calls per hour than a patient service representative.
